”I remember it like it was yesterday… I was at the house in East Oakland ..September 25th, 1992…two days before my 22nd birthday.. my grandmother was at Cedars Mt Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
We wasn’t sure if she was going to make it out of the hospital after her surgery… I hit ‘Pac on his SkyPager, told him what was up… ‘Pac was like ” Tru, I need you down here anyway to do some beats for Mo & Mouse. Yo ticket already payed for, I’m about to call Atron right now to get yo money and room ready.”
Two days later.. September 27th… my 22nd birthday… I got off the airplane at Bob Hope Airport.. My father picked me up and we went straight to the hospital… I visited with my grandmother for four hours… and when I left the hospital I expected to come back the next day after I finished recording at Echo Sound studios in Glendale… We was in Studio A… Ice Cube and the Lynch Mob was in Studio B… I wasn’t really feeling it…
After the studio session I went to my Suite at the Le Montrose in West Hollywood… I went up to the roof to relax in the pool…
Had a near brush with death that same night when I fell asleep in the pool and almost drowned… My father called me the next hour to give me the news of my grandmother’s passing….
‘Pac was the reason I got to visit with my grandmother on her last day living on this earth!!!!”
