Different generations like different things, and there isn’t anything we can do about it. We like different music than our grandparents, have a different opinion than our parents and prefer different things than our aunts and uncles. This is something normal as time flies by and different role models appear.
There are, however, persons that are ‘bigger than life’. You cannot describe their talent with words, and their legacy had and will have an impact for the years to come.
One such person, without any doubt, is the hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur. Even though he is not around anymore, he will always be a role model to millions of people around the world. Age is not important when we talk about him since people of all ages love him and still listen to his music. He is the most influential, charismatic, and loved artist in the history of this music.
Nowadays, hip-hop is way more different than what it used to be in the 90s. This is to be expected because music genres evolve, and that’s how we get new and exciting music. It would be strange and disappointing if an artist or a music style stays the same for over 20 years, right?
Teenagers now listen to hip-hop music that, one would say, has nothing in common with the way the so-called ‘golden era’ sounded. Nowadays, rap music is commercial…not that this is a bad thing. Rappers sound more like pop singers, and the lyrics in their songs are about topics ‘essential’ for life in the 21st century. We don’t say that this is necessarily a bad things. As Heraclitus said, ‘Change is the only constant in life’’.
As you will see, all of them know or have heard of the hip-hop legend, and this is proof that talent is the thing that makes the strongest impact on people. Yes, most of these young adults will probably go home and listen to their playlist full of songs of Drake, and Machine Gun Kelly, and there is nothing wrong with that, we also like these artists. Still, it is comforting to know that legends like Tupac Shakur are also not forgotten, and when these young people look for inspiration and strength, they will know where to find it.
Nuthin worse than lil kids runnin round with 2pac shirts and listening to SH*TTY music.
