On March 08, 1995, Tupac is transferred from Riker’s Island to the Clinton Correctional Facility, maximum security state prison for men located in the Village of Dannemora, New York. The prison itself is sometimes colloquially referred to as Dannemora, although its actual name is derived from its location in Clinton County, New York.
Tupac has moved his act into a 6-by-9-foot cell furnished only with a twin bed with a thin mattress, a toilet and a sink. He spent his first day in the general population but was quickly transferred to protective custody the next day “for his own good”. State Department of Correctional Services spokesman Jim Flateau said Tupac will dine on the same food the other inmates get and will wear the same green uniform as his fellow felons. Tupac can wear some of his own shirts, but no hat.
