1995-05-14 / Tupac Grants Rights on Book About 6-Year Old Qa’id Walker-Teal

On May 14, 1995, The law office of McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen draft a fee agreement that would grant them the rights to any book or movie based on the shooting of 6-year old Qa’id Walker-Teal.

The shooting occurred during an annual outdoor festival that in 1992 celebrated Marin City’s 50th anniversary. The community festival, among the longest-running events conducted by African Americans in Northern California, has not been held since Qa’id’s death.
