"Troublesome '96" is a 2Pac song, recorded on April 8, 1996 at Can-Am Studio A for the Outlawz LP (2) and produced by Johnny "J". The recording session was engineered by Tim Nitz and Bradford Bell. The reel of the song contains at least 1 unused layer which consists of an unused verse, that was dubbed "Criminal Tymez". 2Pac performed the song at the House of Blues on July 4, 1996.
The retail mix of the song was mixed on October 8, 1996 according to DR Inventory, which makes me think it was intended for Death Row Greatest Hits first and then was repurposed for 2Pac's Greatest Hits.
In January 1999 a clean version of the song was created with Realest re-recording parts of 2Pac's vocals. This version was never released, however it can be partially heard in the "Unconditional Love" music video.

1. Rough 1 (4/8/96) - No hook vocals (Appears on an April 96 work DAT and an April 96 cassette that leaked a decade ago)

3. Rough 2 (4/8/96 - 5/2/96) - Complete mix, "Criminal Tymez" can be heard underneath - this mix was used in the HOB show (April 96 work DAT)
4. Rough Acapella (4/8/96 - 7/3/96) (HOB show DAT)
5. Album Mix w Sample 10/8/96 - this is most likely the retail mix and it was probably intended for Death Row Greatest Hits first
