Tupac Shakur, a rap star with a history of legal trouble, was arrested in Hollywood after police stopped a car and found him with a loaded gun.
The rapper-actor, who is facing felony trials in New York and Georgia, was arrested Friday night for investigation of having a concealed weapon, Lt. Tammy Tatreau said.
Tupac was jailed overnight and released Saturday on $1,000 bail.
Police found a loaded 9-millimeter pistol and less than half a gram of marijuana, Tatreau said. They stopped the car for allegedly traveling 45 m.p.h. in a 25-m.p.h. zone.
Before the car came to a halt, officers saw Shakur “reaching under the seat in an effort to retrieve or conceal something,” Tatreau said.
The driver, Maurice Harding aka Mopreme, 26, was jailed for investigation of carrying a concealed weapon, which is a misdemeanor, she said.
Harding was transferred to Parker Center for an undisclosed medical problem.
